For Labor Day Weekend we decided to go to Kansas City. It is only about three and a half hours away and we had never been. When we arrived there we found out that they had an Irish Festival going on. They turned the water green in the fountains. They had a kiddie tent where the kids got tattoos, animal balloons, and they got to color. They also had a bounce "city" set up. Wyatt and Eli did that while Dan and Isaiah went to the duck pond where Isaiah won an elephant rubber duckie.
Right beside the festival they had the Crown Plaza. That is a mall connected to the Corporate headquarters of Hallmark Crown. I wanted to go there really bad,but they were closed for the holiday weekend. We ate at a restaurant while we were there called Fritz's. It was really a cute restaurant. The boys got paper hats to wear. Isaiah liked his Daddy's hat better so they traded for a while. After you were seated you would pick up a telephone and order your food. Then when the food was ready a little train would deliver it to you. (I took pictures and posted them to explain it better.) The food was really good and wasn't priced all that bad either. They had a lot of things to do there for the kids but by the time that we got there they were already closed. They closed at 5:00 pm?? I thought that was a little early. The next day we went to the city market where they had fresh fruits and veggies. We got to ride the Barrel express and ponies while we were there. Getting in that barrel wasn't as fun as I made it look. Let's just say that it was a little crowded in there. Oh yeah we did buy some fruits and veggies too! After that we went to a place called the Science City. It was really cute. The kids loved it. The boys got to dig for dinosaur bones, ride in a helicopter, and fly a space shuttle. It was pretty interesting. It was located in Union Station which was really neat to see. After we were through with that we then went to see Bodies Revealed. If you have not seen Bodies Revealed and it comes to your town you need to go. It was done in a very medical kind of way. It wasn't gross at all. It was very informative. The only thing that I could say that I wish would have been different is that I wish they would have let us take our stroller in there. Both of the little guys fell asleep and they got a little heavy to pack around. I would have posted pictures of that but they wouldn't let me take any.
Corny and Peggy told us to go to 12th and Vine and have our picture taken. They said that it was a famous street. We ask some policemen where we could find it and they told us that we wanted 18th and Vine. They told us that we would not want to go to 12th and Vine. I am glad that we ask instead of just trying to find it. We passed a billboard heading to there that said something about not shooting. It was trying to get people to cut down on drive byes. We felt really safe!!! The picture that I took of myself is me on 18th and Vine. Dan and the boys stayed in the van.
On Monday everything was closed so all we did was drive home. But we had a really good weekend. I said that I wanted to go back sometime. I don't think that Dan wants to all that much. Oh yeah the one thing that we did do on Monday was celebrate Dan's Birthday. It was on Sunday, but we had the cake on Monday when we got home. Happy 34th Dan!!! Isaiah was really impressed with the candles on the cake. Then when Dan blew them out he really liked all the smoke!!!
